Official Databank
* Born on the planet Duro.
* Early years spent building up his reputation as bounty hunter and mercenary.
Much of his life is a series of jobs he does in his line of work as a bounty hunter. Since his focus is his work, he doesn't have much down time or personal life.
Highlights include:
* Breaking into the highly secure Jedi Temple and stealing a Holocron with information on potential Jedi children.
* Manipulating and torturing/killing Jedi to get the Holocron open.
* Kidnapping some of said children for Darth Sidious's purposes.
* Captured by the Jedi, interrogated but later escaped.
* Torturing droids C-3PO and R2-D2 to extract information and the Senate building plans.
* Taking hostages at the senate in order to negotiate and secure the release of Ziro the Hutt.
* Attempting to find Hutt afterwards and retrieve the information he had, but this was a failure.
* Fighting with and escaping from the Jedi on numerous occasions.
* Breaking himself and others out of prison with the help of a young Boba Fett, who caused a distraction leading to a riot.
* Surviving a dangerous game/test, trapped in a box of deadly puzzles with other bounty hunters.
* Leading a kidnapping of Chancellor Palpatine on orders of Count Dooku. Foiled because the Jedi knew what was going on.
* Rumoured to have mentored Boba Fett at some point.
* His post-Clone Wars fate remains unknown, however it is said he did later work for the Empire.
Character Personality:
Cad Bane has a preoccupation with two things: his reputation and getting the biggest payment he can from the jobs he does. He has very little regard for the morals of what any said job may entail - as long as he gets paid and it pays well. While he's not a madman who kills indiscriminately for fun, he does not have qualms or guilt afterward in killing anyone who gets in the way of what he's doing. His main priority is always for himself and he'd work for anyone if the price was right but he has tended more toward working for underworld bosses and those on the Dark Side. His confidence in dealing with such dangerous people is aided by knowing his own worth and knowing how good he is at his job.
He doesn't trust easily and respect has to be earned. He may come to the aid those he does respect (without direct payment) but such feelings can quickly change, depending on the situation and he's quick to turn against those who have served their purpose and are no longer of any use to him. His true loyalty is only to himself and the credits/currency he can get from the person willing to bid the highest for his services. He can be ruthless in this regard and single-minded in this goal, even if adaptable when things so awry. To get the job done he has no problem with coldly torturing and killing and manipulating others. He is very calculating and excellent with coming up with a plan, especially a plan that works against great odds.
Along with his reputation, his appearance also matters. With the style of a Western gunslinger, he can't seem to resist a wide-brimmed hat, even if it does make him very recognisable from a distance. Despite talk of blending in, he tends to stand out and he has the confidence and skills to usually get him out of any dangerous situation he ends up in. There's a brashness in that and he often will give a parting word as he's escaping. He can work well with others and as a team, especially if he's in charge but ultimately his focus is on himself. He does take some pride in a job well done, not impressed with sloppy work and will do it all himself when necessary - even preferring to work alone. He won't give up on anything he's being paid for easily. Even when imprisoned, he's very resourceful and he would frequently find a way out so very little will stop him from achieving his ends. His attitude, though, is generally professional and no-nonsense, even if he does sometimes take things personally. He most often tries not to allow those feelings to get in the way of the job at hand. He can be angered but keeps a cool head much of the time and remains determined.
His lack of sympathy and ruthless tactics may have the downside of people not trusting him even as he is respected and feared. He isn't afraid to negotiate with the most powerful people around, which also could get him killed should they no longer require his services. His overall attitude and focus on credits will be shaken up, should he arrive in Nautilus. It's a narrow-minded failing on his part. Adjusting may be easy. Change could prove harder.
Powers and Abilities:
Cad Bane was regarded as one of the very best and most lethal bounty hunters in the galaxy. While he does not have any Force ability or other magical sort of powers, his skills are multiple and varied. He's a good fighter and while he can perform hand to hand, he's best with blasters or guns of some description - said to rarely miss a shot. He has specially made gauntlets on his arms that hold a vast array of gadgets and weaponry, including - but not limited to - electrical charges, flamethrowers and a whip-like cord for capturing, lassoing and holding people securely.
He also has a set of rocket boots that act like a sort of jet pack, allowing him to fly for short distances; they also could lock down and ground him in a lack of gravity. He's fashioned special breathing tube attachments that can help him breathe in almost any situation, including toxic air and to some degree preventing him from being Force choked.
He's very agile and quick, both in mind and in body. He's very clever, good with strategy and making deals. He's quick witted, managing to change tactics in high stress situations when plans go wrong and he's very good at getting the job done, no matter how difficult it may seem. He has battled again very strong opponents - such as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi - and while not conquering them he has at least escaped from them and gotten the better of them at times.
He does know how to pilot various spaceships and speeders. He knows multiple languages, at least enough to understand the basics. Strong of mind, he is very resistant to things such as Jedi Mind Tricks, managing to fight off three strong Jedi at once although he did know when it was getting too much for him to take. Tricky and calculating, he always has a plan that he could use to his advantage, even in the most dire of situations.

Network:
[The blue-skinned, red-eyed bounty hunter appears on the network with a proposition. His voice has a gravelly edge with some faint, unidentifiable accent.]
So, Nautilus, while your ways here may be a bit unusual I think we can come to a mutual arrangement that will be beneficial to us all. I am Cad Bane, at your service, and no job is too complicated for me to handle. I could find you things you've... lost. Or things that you want. I can deal with those who may be causing you a problem, one way or another.
[His tone seems to hint at less than savory things and that this proposal may not be all on the right side of the law.]
My fee is negotiable but for the right price I am sure we can do some business. Lacking the usual systems, we can do an exchange in services. Any questions? Ask them here.

Third Person:
For a being with Cad Bane's priorities, Nautilus was a city he couldn't quite fathom. There were no payments here. No exchange of credits or gold or any other currency. There wasn't even much need for exchange of goods or services since almost everyone could create what they wanted or needed - or they could at least learn to. Bending up an endless pile of credits did him no good at all if he didn't have a place to spend them. Unfortunately, it seemed from what he'd heard around that he couldn't even take them back to his own universe. Somehow Nautilus was like a separate plane of existence all together. A world where you were awake and so credits were useless when you went back to sleep and dreamed.
It was all very frustrating to him. He was used to bargaining and getting the highest offer for his services. Being the best at his job afforded him such flexibility and he could charge what he wanted. People would pay if they wanted the job done - and done well.
Here, he would have to change his position and his attitude. He knew that and he was adaptable enough to consider his options and think up a new plan. He had skills he could offer here, both legitimate - such as dealing with any criminal elements causing trouble - or otherwise, anything more underhanded such as acquiring difficult to get items that didn't belong to those asking for them. As long as the people asking did something of value in exchange for his services, then that sort of arrangement could prove suitable for him and it made the city here make a bit more sense. He hated to be idle.
The network was simple enough to understand and use. He could start there, sending a message out that he was available and in what capacity. He could also set notices up in the Districts. The West, in particular, looked like it may be the most accommodating to his particular brand of service.
There may be benefits here, after all. If he looked hard enough, he would find them.

The message had been very covert and cryptic but the offered payment for success - part now, part later - wasn't something that Cad Bane could turn down. He figured that the client must think this a very dangerous or near impossible task but that was what Bane specialised in.
And, more often than not, he would get the job done.
It sounded simple enough: There was a door that needed opening. But of course it wasn't that easy. The 'door' was more like some sort of mystical portal, unknown in origin - at least to most - and finding a way to 'open' it may not be like breaking some technologically advanced lock. But the bounty hunter was nothing if not resourceful and he could think outside the box when necessary to accomplish his goals. Or other's goals, for the right price.
The unknown client had deposited a sizable amount of credits in Bane's account already; a show of good faith that they were legitimate - with a promise of more when the job was done. But this was just a start. They said after the way was clear to pass through the portal then there would be another job for Bane to do. They didn't say what but getting this first part done was apparently tricky enough; a sort of test, perhaps, to see if he was up for the challenge.
For that amount of credits, he'd certainly try.
So now he was at the portal, a mysterious gateway between worlds. Its location was quite remote and hidden in a forested area. It barely would register to random passersby as the most that could be detected was a faint shimmer; a trick of the light. But for somebody who knew it was there, it was more obvious that something was amiss in the air. He reached out to it; touching the faint outline caused a tingling buzz across his skin, like a frisson of nearby lightning. He pulled his hand back and checked his arm equipment. The sensation hadn't shorted anything out but there was some sort of power in it.
Hmm. No obvious locks or even a handle. Just the subtle outline of a door-like shape. He put his hands against it, feeling that tingling again. There may have to be some trial and error here.
He got to work, beginning with giving the portal a strong shot of electrical charge to see if maybe some technology in there would break.
